Welcome to My Blog

Yaaay! I can finally get a blog! But it has to be all about books, so I doubt any of my friends will read it. So the book I just finished is: The Pink Motel! It's a book by Carol Ryrie Brink. It's not that new. It's about two siblings, Kirby and Bitsy, who move to an old motel because their mother has inherited it from their great-great uncle Hiram. They go down to Florida during their winter break so their parents can paint it a boring normal color and sell it. While they're down there, they have a bunch of strange guests, including: Ms. Elizabeth Ferry, a strange abstract artist who is always saying funny stuff. Miss DeGree, a woman with 3 very valuable poodles named Leo, Ruffles, and Pantaloon, The Great Marvello, a retired magician, the Browns, a rich family who go down to Florida every year to get a suntan and their daughter Sandra, who always has her nose in the air, Mr. Black and Mr. Locke, two suspicious men who Kirby assumes are gangsters, and Mr. Carver, a carpenter who makes weather vanes for the motel (which is actually 6 houses for guests and 1 big office). I have decided to put the part of the book I thought was funniest, so here it is for this book (Kirby, Bitsy, and their new friend Big are about to dog-sit the Ms. DeGree's poodles):

Ms. DeGree said, "Leo, please shake hands with Kirby." The dog with the mane and the tail clipped like a lion jumped out of the car obediently, sat on his hind legs and offered his paw to Kirby. "Now Pantaloon, please step down and shake hands with Big." Ms. DeGree said to the dog with the shaggy legs. "Pleased to meet you, Panty." Big said, shaking the dog's paw. "Pant-a-loon," corrected Ms. DeGree gently. "Pleased to meet you, Loony." said Big, shaking again. "Oh, oh, dear! The name is Pantaloon. I can't have any of my doggies nicknamed. I don't know what the Kennel Club would think of that!" Ms. DeGree said.

That cracked me UP!! Maybe that's just because I'm a kid...

Oh well. Anyway, here are some books coming up:
Mara: Daughter of the Nile

Caddie Woodlawn

Thanks for reading!
